The Duluth Huskies (18-19) lost to the Waterloo Bucks (23-13) in the first game of the second half of the Northwoods League season.

It was a hot day in Duluth as the Huskies faced off against the Waterloo Bucks, and the Bucks got off to a hot start scoring 2 runs in the top of the 1st inning. They built to that lead in the 2nd and 3rd innings scoring 1 and 2 runs respectively. After 3 innings the Bucks led the Huskies 5-0. The Bucks scored their 6th and final run in the top of the 5th inning. The Huskies were finally able to put a run on the board in the bottom of the 8th inning when Reid Long hit a sac fly to deep center with the bases loaded to score Matt Brown. Later on in the 8th inning, Brendan McClary came around to score on a pass ball making the score 6-2 Bucks.

Ryan Tapani got the start for the Huskies and worked 4.1 innings allowing 6 runs on 6 hits walking 1. Ian Schwickert came into the game in relief of Tapani and worked 0.2 innings allowing 0 runs on 1 hit walking 1. Drew Mullinax came into the game in the top of the 6th and worked 4.0 innings allowing 0 runs on 2 hits striking out 3.

The Huskies will be back at Wade Stadium tomorrow at 6:35 to battle the Waterloo Bucks in the second game of the series. Tomorrow is Team Poster Night sponsored by JSPrint Group.
