The Duluth Huskies (20-23) beat the La Crosse Loggers (19-23) Tuesday night at Wade Stadium.

It was a beautiful day for baseball as the Duluth Huskies faced off against the La Crosse Loggers in Duluth. It was also a great day for the Huskies as they clicked on all cylinders as their pitching, batting, and fielding dominated the Loggers.

The Huskies got off to a fast start as they scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Daniel Amaral led off the game with a single and came around to score on an Austin Bernard double. Bernard scored two batters later when Mitch Reeves hit a sac fly to right field. Later in the inning, Reid Long came around to score on a Liam Sabino triple. Sabino then scored on a Justin Ambrosino single.

The Huskies added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 4th when Carter Hanford doubled to score Amaral and Brendan McClary. After 4 innings, the score was 6-0 Huskies.  

The Loggers were able to score 3 runs in the top of the 5th inning when Justin Wylie and Gavin Johns scored on a Mason McCoy double; McCoy then came around to score on a Griffin Conine single.

Then Huskies didn’t need much offense as Ryan Tapani took the mound for the Huskies and earned his 3rd win of the season. Tapani tossed 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits walking 2 and striking out 4. He was replaced by Wade Regas. Regas tossed 1.0 inning allowing 0 runs on 0 hits. Quentin Longrie got the save for the Huskies after tossing the final 2 innings allowing 0 run on 0 hits while striking out 3.

The stars of the game for the Huskies were Tapani for his strong pitching performance; Carter Hanford who went 2-4 with a double, walk, and 2RBIs; and Justin Ambrosino who went 2-3 with a walk and RBI.

The Huskies are back in action tomorrow night as they go for the sweep of the La Crosse Loggers. First pitch from Wade Stadium is scheduled for 6:35 with gates opening at 5:35.
