The Duluth Huskies (20-24) fell to the La Crosse Loggers (20-23) Wednesday night after 4 different rain delays.

The first delay pushed the game back until 7:05. Once the game started, the Loggers scored first on a homerun from Justin Wylie in the top of the 1st. In the bottom of the 1st, the rain came back to delay the game another 30 minutes, but once it started back up the Huskies didn’t stay quiet, scoring Daniel Amaral on a double from Casey Moses. The Huskies and the Loggers would remain deadlocked at 1 until the bottom of the 7th when Moses scored on a fielder’s choice. The Loggers responded quickly in the top of the 8th on a single from Cullen Large to tie the game back up, but this time at 2. It would be the Loggers who would break up the tie after the 4th and final rain delay of the night. Loggers scored 2 in the top of the 9th on a double from Lorenzo Hampton Jr to take the lead and ultimately win.

Payton Robinson was the starter for the Huskies tossing 3.0 innings allowing just 1 hit with 1 run, 0 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Jesse Fruge came in as relief for Robinson after the 2nd delay for 4.1 innings allowing 3 hits with 1 run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Ian Schwickert made an appearance for 0.2 innings, before being relieved by Reid Long. Long receives the loss for the Huskies after tossing 1 inning with 3 hits, 2 runs, 0 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Andrew Perez was the starter for the Loggers tossing 2.0 innings with 2 hits, 1 run, 4 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Cason Sherrod receives the win for the Loggers tossing 3.0 innings allowing 3 hits, with 1 run, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts. Dave Smith receives the save after pitching 1 inning.

The Huskies are on the road Thursday and Friday in Waterloo to face the Bucks. The Huskies will be back at home Saturday and Sunday to face the Thunder Bay Border Cats. Saturday is the 75th Anniversary celebration for Wade Stadium. The Huskies will be wearing throwback Dukes jerseys to celebrate. It’s also Canal Park Business night. First pitch is set for 6:35 with gates opening at 5:35.
