The Duluth Huskies (21-25) fell to the Waterloo Bucks (27-18) at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo.
The Huskies got to work quickly in the top of the 1st scoring Daniel Amaral on a single from Carter Hanford. Waterloo responded in the bottom of the 2nd with a sacrifice fly from Travon Benton to score Adam McGinnis to tie the game at 1. The bottom of the 4th was a big inning for the Bucks, scoring a total of 8 runs. The Huskies tried to come back in the top of the 6th scoring 2 on a home run from Jake Pries, but it wouldn’t be enough to take the lead from the Bucks. The final score was 9-3 in favor of the home team.
Daniel Amaral went 4 for 5 and added 1 to his stolen base count, making the total for his season so far 18. Carter Hanford went 2 for 5, including a double and 1 RBI. Jake Pries went 1 for 3 with a massive homerun to earn 2 RBIs.
Alex Ferguson was the starter for the Huskies tossing 3.1 innings allowing 6 hits with 6 runs, 2 walks, and 1 strikeout, he receives the loss. Trevino Rodriguez came in to relieve Ferguson, going 4.2 innings with 3 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Brett Solano earns the win for the Bucks after tossing 6.0 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs, 3, and 4 strikeouts.
The Huskies return home Saturday, July 16th for the 75th Anniversary celebration of Wade Stadium sponsored by the Canal Park Business Association. The Huskies will be wearing throwback Dukes jerseys to celebrate the occasion. First pitch vs the Thunder Bay Border Cats is scheduled for 6:35.
