The Duluth Huskies (22-26) defeated the Thunder Bay Border Cats (10-36) Sunday afternoon after a game full of hits.

The Border Cats started where they left off Saturday Night, which was hitting and scoring. They scored 4 runs on 5 hits in the top of the 1st to jump to an early lead over the Huskies. In the top of the 2nd the Border Cats added 1 to their lead on a homerun from Michael Papierski. The Huskies started to claw their way back in the bottom of the 3rd scoring 1, with Jake Pries being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Brendan McClary. Daniel Amaral hit a single to score Chase Barbary in the bottom of the 4th to continue to cut into the Border Cats lead. Liam Sabino hit a giant double to score Reid Long in the bottom of the 5th with the Huskies making the score 5-3 Border Cats. Top of the 6th the Border Cats scored 2 more runs to continue their lead. Then the Huskies offense exploded in the bottom of the 6th scoring 7 runs on 5 hits to take their first lead of the game. The Huskies offense continued in to the bottom of the 7th when they scored on double from Reid Long. The Border Cats scored on a sacrifice fly from Michael Papierski, but it wasn’t enough to take the lead. The final score of the game would be 11-8 in favor of the Huskies.

Drew Molin was the starter for the Huskies, tossing 4.0 innings with 8 hits, 5 runs, 0 walks, and 0 strikeouts. It would be Payton Robinson that would receive the win after tossing 2.0 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 0 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Quentin Longrie earns the save after tossing the final inning of the game. Dan McBryan was the starter for the Border Cats tossing 3.2 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs, 5 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Tom Mullin receives the loss after pitching 0.1 of an inning allowing 3 hits with 6 runs, 1 walk and 0 strikeouts.

With a 3 day break, our 4 All-Stars, Wade Regas, Daniel Amaral, Ryan Tapani, and Carter Hanford are all headed to the All-Star game in Kenosha Tuesday night to compete. The Huskies will be on the road Thursday and Friday in Green Bay to face the Bullfrogs then in St. Cloud Saturday to face the Rox. The Huskies will be back at home Sunday July 24th for Christmas in July sponsored by Bentleyville.
