The North Division defeat the South during the Northwood Leagues All-Star game Tuesday night in Kenosha.
The North got off to a hot start right away scoring 7 runs on 7 hits in the top of the 1st. It wouldn’t be until the bottom of the 3rd that the South would score their first runs on a homerun from Steve Passatempo to score 2. Then in the bottom of the 5th the South would add 1 to their score on a single from Passatempo. The North added to their lead with 1 in the top of the 6th on a single from Luke Ringhofer. Adam McGinnis hit a single to score Mason McCoy in the top of the 7th to continue the North’s dominance. The South had a little rally started in the bottom of the 8th when they scored 2 to make the score 9-5, but they were unable to catch up. The North won the All-Star game for the first time since 2013 when Eau Claire hosted. The Northwoods League decided to name co-MVPs for the game which would be Steve Passatempo of the Woodchucks and Mason McCoy of the Loggers.
The Huskies had 4 All-Stars on the roster for the event which included Ryan Tapani, Carter Hanford, Wade Regas, and Daniel Amaral. Carter Hanford started at 3rd for the North and batted 8th. Amaral came in to right field in the bottom of the 5th for Ricky Ramirez. Ryan Tapani was in for 1 inning with a solid performance allowing only 1 hit.
Caleb Boushley of the Express receives the win for the North division after tossing 1 inning. Chris Cooper of the Rafters receives the loss for the South after tossing 0.1 innings allowing 5 hits with 5 runs, 1 walk and 0 strikeouts.
After the league wide off-day on Wednesday, the Huskies will be on the road to face the Green Bay Bullfrogs Thursday and Friday. Then they continue on the road to face St. Cloud Saturday night, before coming home Sunday to face the Roxs again for Christmas in July at Wade Stadium sponsored by Bentleyville.
