The Duluth Huskies (6-10) fell to the St. Cloud Rox (10-5) for the first home game back after the All-Star break.
The Huskies were able to jump to an early lead, scoring Reid Long in the bottom of the 2nd on a single from Matt Brown. Daniel Amaral was able to add 1 to his stolen base count for a total of 19 in the bottom of the 3rd to put him in scoring position. Amaral would later score on a single from Austin Bernard to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Huskies. The first hit for the Rox wasn’t until the top of the 6th after a stellar performance by Ryan Tapani. The first run for the Rox came in the top of the 7th with Ricky Ramirez scoring after his leadoff single. St. Cloud would take the lead in the top of the 8th, scoring 2. Then the Rox added 2 more to their score in the top of the 9th. The Huskies were unable to respond with any runs, leaving the final score at 5-2 in favor of the Rox.
Austin Caspersen was the starter for the Rox and he tossed 6.1 innings allowing 6 hits with 2 runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Aaron Rozek receives the win after tossing 1.2 innings and it would be Brian Glowicki who earns the save for the Rox. Ryan Tapani had a great performance for the Huskies after tossing 6.1 innings allowing only 1 hit with 1 run, 5 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Trevino Rodriguez gets the loss after tossing 1.2 innings allowing 1 hit with 2 runs, 2 walks, and 0 strikeouts.
The Huskies will have a day off Monday before a 4 game home stand. On Tuesday the Huskies will face the Green Bay Bullfrogs for Superhero Night at Wade Stadium. Fans dressed as their favorite superhero will receive a discounted ticket and a chance to win prizes hosted by Dungeon’s End.
