The Duluth Huskies (24-35) lost to the Thunder Bay Border Cats (14-43) Monday afternoon in the 1st game of the double header.

The Huskies, who were running on very little sleep after a late game in La Crosse yesterday, came out sluggish. The Thunder Bay Border Cats loaded the bases in each of the first two innings, but only walked away with 1 run.

The Huskies were able to get a run on the board in the top of the 3rd when Brett Milazzo scored on a Dillon Paulson single. Heading into the bottom of the 3rd the Huskies and Border Cats were tied at 1.

The Border Cats regained the lead in the bottom of the 3rd and never looked back scoring 10 unanswered runs including 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th on 5 bases loaded walks.

Drew Molin got the start for Huskies and picked up the loss after tossing 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs, 2 earned, on 9 hits while walking 1 and striking out 4. Molin was replaced by Alex Ferguson who tossed 1.0 inning and allowed 3 runs on 2 hits while walking 1. Matt Hanson came in and pitched 0.1 innings for the Huskies and allowed 5 runs on 2 hits while walking 4. Tyler Fischer finished the game for the Huskies. Fischer pitcher 0.2 innings allowing 0 runs on 0 hits while walking 2 and striking out 1.

The Huskies take the field at 6:05 tonight for the 2nd game of the double header. The Huskies return home Tuesday August 2nd to battle the Rochester Honkers. First pitch from Wade Stadium is set for 6:35 with gates opening at 5:35.
