The Duluth Huskies (26-38) lost to the Willmar Stingers (35-29) in the series finale Friday night at Bill Taunton Stadium.

The Huskies got on the board early as Casey Moses scored on a Jake Pries ground ball. Their lead would not last long however as the Stingers scored in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th innings.

The Stingers tied the game in the bottom of the 2nd when Quincy McAfee singled to score Luke Becker. The Stingers took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd when Danny Mayer singled to score Greg Lambert.

The Huskies briefly tied the game at 2 in the top of the 4th when Tyler Duex scored on an error by the Stingers shortstop.

The Stingers retook the lead in the bottom of the 4th when Kole Cottam scored on a McAfee ground ball.  The Stingers added to that lead in the bottom of the 5th when Eddie Estrada and Brandon Perez both scored on a McAfee double. Danny Pardo then led off the bottom of the 6th with a solo shot to make the score Huskies 2 Stingers 6.

The Huskies were able to cut the Stingers lead in half in the top of the 7th inning when Dillon Paulson scored on a Carter Hanford single. That would be all the scoring for the Huskies as the Stingers went on to score 1 more run in the bottom of the 7th when Becker scored on a McAfee single. At the end on the night the scoreboard read Huskies 3 Stingers 7.

Henry DeCaster got the start for the Huskies and earned the loss after tossing 4.2 innings allowing 5 runs on 9 hits while walking 6 and striking out 2. DeCaster was replaced by Alex Ferguson who tossed 2.1 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits while walking 1. Ian Schwickert tossed the bottom of the 8th for the Huskies. He allowed 0 runs on 0 hits while walking 0 and striking out 2.

The Huskies will travel to La Crosse Saturday for a 2 game series against the Loggers before heading to Eau Claire for 2 games. They return home on Thursday, August 11 to battle the Rochester Honkers. First pitch from Wade Stadium is scheduled for 6:35.
