The Duluth Huskies (27-39) defeated the La Crosse Loggers (34-31) Sunday evening at the Lumberyard.

What started as a pitching duel between Drew Molin and Taylor Blatch wouldn’t be broken until the bottom of the 5th when the Loggers scored on a home run from Gavin Johns to score 2 and take the lead from the Huskies. The Huskies didn’t break through until the top of the 9th starting with a leadoff double from Carter Hanford. Things quickly got out of hand for the Loggers as the Huskies continued to get on base. Daniel Amaral drew the walk with the bases loaded to put Hanford across home for run number 1. With bases loaded still, Dillion Paulson came up to bat to hit a single to right to score Brett Milazzo and Brendan McClary to take the lead from the Loggers 3-2. The Huskies took out all 3 batters faced in the bottom of the 9th to get the W.

Molin was the starter for the Huskies and he tossed 6.0 innings allowing 6 hits with 2 runs, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts. Marcus Frederickson earns the win after tossing 2.0 innings with 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Wade Regas gets the save after tossing the final inning for the Huskies. Blatch, the starter for the Loggers, tossed 6.2 innings allowing 6 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, and 10 strikeouts. Tristin Walters receives the loss after tossing 0.1 of an inning allowing 1 hit with 2 runs, 0 walks, and 1 strikeout.

The Huskies continue their road trip in Eau Claire Monday to face the Express before the Major League Dreams Showcase in Madison on Tuesday. They will finish their road trip Wednesday in Eau Claire before heading back to Duluth for the final home series of the season. Thursday August 11 is Wrestling at the Wade with an actual wrestling match before the game. The Huskies will take on the Rochester Honkers with gates opening at 4:45 and first pitch is set for 6:35.
