After sweeping the La Crosse Loggers the night before the Duluth Huskies Baseball team made their way south to Waterloo, Iowa for a two-game series against the Bucks.

Unlike the previous two nights the Huskies failed to score early and first. The Waterloo Bucks took an early 2-0 lead, adding three more runs by the 5th inning. Huskies broke the drought in the seventh inning where catcher, Jim Reemsnyder drove in a pair and later scored himself. Putting up four runs in the seventh Huskies only trailed by one, 5-4.

Victor Santana got the start tonight, pitching 3.1 innings and striking out 3. The Huskies looked to their bullpen again to keep them in this game. Three total relievers made their 2017 Huskies debut tonight including, Casey Aplin (Itasca CC), Trevor Smisek (Ellsworth CC), and Gaylon Viney (Central Oklahoma).

The Big story however was Caleb Robinson (Western Carolina), who hit his first homerun of the year and tied things up for the Huskies in the top of the ninth inning. The Huskies shut the Bucks out in the bottom half and took the game to extra innings.

It was Kai Gomez (Moorpark College) that got things going as he beat out an infield error in the top half of the 10th inning to give the Huskies their first lead of the game. Kevin Foleman, the Hermantown native earned his second save of the season. The Huskies finished with a score of 8-7 and now improve to 3-0 on the season. The final game of this Waterloo series is set for 6:35 tomorrow night. The Huskies will then travel back to Wade Stadium on Saturday, June 3rd to open at home against the Wilmar Stingers.
