The Waterloo Bucks (18-7) defeated the Duluth Huskies (13-12) in game 2 of the 2-game series Saturday night. Things started as a pitching duel, but slowly the Bucks started to take over.
Gaylon Viney and Ryan Garcia started the night evenly, keeping the score at zero. The Bucks were able to break through in the 4th, after Zach Malis scored on a wild pitch. Wild pitching continued for the Huskies as the Bucks were able to score again on a wild pitch, putting the Bucks ahead by 2. During the 6th, the Bucks continued their scoring and added 3 more runs to their total to put them at 5. The final score for the Bucks was 6. The Huskies were never able to put a run across home plate, keeping them at 0.
Viney receives the loss for the Huskies after tossing 5.0 innings, allowing 4 hits, with 5 strikeouts. Garcia earns the win after tossing 5.0 innings allowing 4 hits and 5 strikeouts as well.
The Duluth Huskies will be on the road June 25th for one game in Eau Claire against the Express, before they head back home for a three- game home stand. Monday June 26th is Every Monday Matters at Wade Stadium while the Huskies face Eau Claire. The Huskies have partnered with the Salvation Army to help the less fortunate.
