The Duluth Huskies(21-25) lost game one of the away series with the Rochester Honkers(23-22) by a score of 16-9. Neither pitching staff did well tonight as the offenses exchanged blows like two prized fighters.

The Huskies scored nine runs off of 16 hits while the Honkers scored 16 runs off of 12 hits. Augie Isaacson continued his impressive road trip as he went 3-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Andrew Robinson went 1-5 with two runs scored and three RBI as he stroked his first homer of the summer. Luke Roskam also had a big night as he went 3-5 with a run scored and 3 RBI. The offense was unreal tonight but they happened to run into someone named Zach Zubia. Where did the Honkers find this guy? He went 2-4 with three runs scored and seven RBI. That’s right, seven RBI. He leads the entire Northwoods League in homeruns at 16, RBI in 49, slugging percentage at .731, walks at 40, and extra-base hits at 29. He showed the Huskies staff why he is getting the nod for the NWL All-Star game.

Starting pitcher for the Huskies Ricky Mitchell(1-0) went 4.1 innings and gave up seven earned runs off of six hits. He would be replaced by Austin Truso(2-1) in the 5th inning. Truso would go 1.0 inning giving up five earned runs off of two hits and four walks. Truso was credited with the loss tonight. Tre Brown(1-1) would replace Truso and as he went 1.2 innings giving up two earned runs off of one hit and two walks. Trevor Smisek would then get the call and went 1.0 inning giving up three runs, two of which were earned.

Huskies will try and split the series with Rochester tomorrow in Rochester. First pitched is scheduled for 1:05 pm.
