After the completion of ten home games at the Wade in eight days the Huskies hit the road for a pair of games vs both the Rox of St. Cloud and the Rochester Honkers. To start the road, trip the Huskies continued a game that was suspended due to rain a little over a week ago back at Wade Stadium. Starting from the top of the fifth inning with a scoreless ball game the Huskies took the field.

St. Cloud attacked early and often adding four runs in the top of the fifth inning to open the bats for the night. Adding five more by the end of the eighth inning the score sit at 10-0 in the favor of the home town Rox. The Huskies started a rally in the bottom of the ninth adding three runs on four hits but it was not enough. Final score of 10-3, St. Cloud Rox.

Game two was a different story, From the start, right hander, Gaylon Viney (Central Oklahoma) was lights outs in this concentrated seven inning ballgame. Viney went four and a third innings pitched, striking out four and overall working the Rox. It wasn’t until the third inning where the hot bats hit the Huskies. Isaac Collins (Creighton) ignited the Huskies with an RBI single to score Alec Abercrombie (NDSU). The offense didn’t quit in the third, Rob Emery (San Francisco) hit a three-run homerun to give the crew in blue the early 4-0 lead.

St. Cloud, the first half north division champions were not done. In the bottom of the fifth inning the Rox added three runs on two hits and an error. This put them within one run and put the Huskies bullpen to the test. Both Trevor Smisek (Ellsworth CC) and Joe Gonrowski (St. Scholastica) combined for four strikeouts, one hit, and zero runs to lead the Huskies to a game two win.

The Huskies are back in action at Joe Faber Field tomorrow afternoon to finish off the regular season matchups with the Rox. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05.
