Duluth, Minn.- The Huskies have added to an already impressive list of young men signed to play in 2021, adding outfielder Kyle Westfall of Mason, Ohio to the squad. The 2019 graduate graded out as the number two overall prospect in Ohio and the number one outfielder in the state, per perfectgame.org. In his senior season at IMG academy, Westfall hit .324 over 23 games according to the official page of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, whom he played his freshman season for before the Covid-19 outbreak abruptly halted the season. His accolades over that 2019 season for IMG include a triple, seven doubles, nine RBIs, and 22 hits, including 19 runs scored.

Kyle saw action in ten games off the bench for Coastal Carolina in 2020. According to their official site, he posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage on the season. Not only that, but Westfall also hit .333 with a home run, three RBIs, two runs scored, and one stolen base recorded during that time. His homerun was a two-run homer in a road matchup with Number 7 ranked NC State on March 4th, 2020. Not to be outdone on the ballfield vs the classroom, Kyle earned a spot on the Dean’s List for Coastal Carolina for the fall semester, according to their official site.

Westfall is excited to play for the Huskies, whom he says give him the best opportunity to play elite baseball in a beautiful location all summer. He attributes his lifelong love for baseball to his dad, who introduced him to the game. Without his father, he may have never began playing the game he excels at.  Will Lake Superior be warm enough for the beach-goer? Time will tell, because outside of baseball, Kyle enjoys anything that involves being on a beach or out on the water. Join us in welcoming Kyle to the Duluth Huskies!
