6.1.15 HuskiesvThunderBay

The Duluth Huskies (3-3) made over 700 fans a very happy crowd as they held Thunder Bay in check in the top of the 9th inning to defeat the Border Cats 4-3 to end a two-game losing streak.

Catcher TJ Martin got the 7th inning going by being hit by a pitch to advance him to first. Centerfielder Danny Lee followed with a single which put runners on first and second with one out. Shortstop Alex Greene then walked to load the bases and third baseman Matt McLaughlin scored TJ Martin on a fielder’s choice which turned out to be the winning run for the Huskies. The Border Cats made things interesting by getting Kyle Comer as far as to third base but the Huskies shut the door to get the win.

Alex Wojciechowski and Danny Lee both had two hits for the Huskies while Wojciechowski added another RBI bringing his total to five on the season and Jean Figueroa also added a two-run home run in the 4th inning to help give the Huskies the win. Ryan Agnitsch got his first win for the Huskies pitching three complete innings and Austin Carpenter recorded his first save as well.

The Huskies will be back at Wade on Tuesday to take on the Thunder Bay Border Cats once again to finish off a two-game home stand.
