The Duluth Huskies (18-18) lost to the Willmar Stingers (18-18) Tuesday night at Wade Stadium.

For the second straight night the Stingers jumped out to an early lead scoring 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning, and the Huskies failed to respond.

The Huskies were able to break through and score in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Chase Barbary doubled, to score Mitch Reeves. The next batter, Brendan McClary hit a ground ball that scored Matt Brown to make the score 4-2 Stingers. The Huskies picked up 1 run in the bottom of the 5th when McClary scored on a Justin Ambrosino fielder’s choice. The Huskies scored their 4th and final run in the bottom of the 6th inning when Reeves scored on a McClary sac fly. When the game was over the scoreboard read Huskies 4 Stingers 9.

Payton Robinson got the start for the Huskies and took the loss; he tossed 1.0 inning allowing 4 runs on 3 hits walking 1 and striking out 1. He was replaced by Trevino Rodriguez. Rodriguez went 3.0 innings allowing 3 runs on 3 hits walking 3 and striking out 1. Drew Molin was the 3rd pitcher of the night for the Huskies. He went 2.2 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits walking 3, striking out 2. Ian Schwickert replaced Molin and pitched 1.1 innings allowing 0 runs on 0 hits walking 1 and striking out 1. Wade Regas came in and pitched the final inning for the Huskies allowing 0 runs on 0 hits.

The Huskies will be back at home tomorrow night to face-off against the Waterloo Bucks. First pitch from Wade Stadium is scheduled for 6:35. Tomorrow’s promotion is Huskies CAP NIGHT.
