The Duluth Huskies (3-8) were defeated by the Thunder Bay Border Cats (4-7) after Shannon Broussard of the Border Cats threw a no-hitter.
Saturday night was the 75th Anniversary of Wade Stadium and with 2675 fans in the stands, there was a pitchers’ duel for the crowd. Neither the Huskies nor the Border Cats were able to score throughout the game, until the top of the 9th. The Border Cats broke through and were able to put 7 runs on the board adding 6 hits to their count. The Huskies were unable to respond and allowed Broussard to throw the no-no.
Broussard tossed all 9 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts, he earns the win for the Border Cats. Henry DeCaster was the starter for the Huskies, tossing 7.0 innings with 4 hits, 0 runs, 2 walks, and 1 strikeout. Wade Regas receives the loss for the Huskies after tossing 0.2 innings allowing 4 hits with 5 runs, 0 walks, and no strikeouts. David Kroger finished out the game tossing 1 inning allowing 2 hits with 0 runs, 0 walks, and 1 strikeout.
The Huskies are back in action Sunday afternoon to finish the series with the Thunder Bay Border Cats for Yoga Day at the Wade sponsored by ColdFUSION, Fit Lab and the Duluth Running Company. Registration is at 12pm until 12:45pm on game day, Family Yoga on the field from 1-2pm. Game is set for 3:05 with gates opening at 2:05.
