The Duluth Huskies (24-30) lost to the Green Bay Bullfrogs (26-28) Wednesday night at Wade Stadium.

The Huskies got off to a fast start Wednesday night scoring the first run of the game in the bottom of the 1st inning when Daniel Amaral scored on a Jake Pries groundout. The Huskies lead would not last long however as the Bullfrogs took the lead in the top of the 2nd inning and never looked back.

The Bullfrogs scored 2 runs in the top of the 2nd when Quincy Nieporte scored on a Matthew Hoeg sac fly and on a Josh Hollander single which scored Hill Alexander. The Bullfrogs extended their lead in the top of the 3rd when Austin Clemons scored on a Marcus Shoemaker groundout.

The Huskies were able to cut into the Bullfrogs lead in the bottom of the 3rd when Amaral scored on a wild pitch. That made the score 3-2 Bullfrogs.

The Bullfrogs went on to score 2 more runs; 1 in the top of the 7th and 1 in the top of the 9th making the final score 5-2 Bullfrogs.

Riley Gates made the start for the Huskies and earned the loss after tossing 5.0 innings and allowing 3 runs on 4 hits while walking 2 and striking out 4. Gates was replaced by Drew Mullinax who tossed 2.0 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 1. Wade Regas came in and pitched a scoreless 8th inning for the Huskies. Drew Molin came in and pitched the 9th for the Huskies allowing 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 1.

Chase Barbary and Daniel Amaral each had a great night at the plate for the Huskies. Barbary went 3-4 with a double and Amaral went 3-4 with 2 runs scored and 3 stolen bases.

The Huskies are back at Wade Stadium Thursday, July 28th to start a 4 game series vs the La Crosse Loggers. First pitch from Wade Stadium is scheduled for 6:35 with gates opening at 5:35. Thursday is Renaissance Day and Thirsty Thursday at Wade Stadium. Bud beer will be $2 from the time gates open until 7:00pm.
