The Duluth Huskies (27-40) lost to the Eau Claire Express (43-24) Monday night at Carson Park.

The Huskies fell behind early as the Express scored a run in the bottom of the 1st when Daulton Varsho scored on a Rudy Rott single. The game stayed 1-0 Express until the bottom of the 4th when the Express scored 5 runs chasing the Huskies starter from the game.

Duluth was able to get a run across the plate in the top of the 5th when Dillon Paulson hit a bases loaded sac fly to make the score 6-1 Express. The Huskies closed the scoring gap further in the top of the 7th when Brendan McClary scored on a Daniel Amaral ground out. That was as close as the Huskies would come to the Express, however, as Eau Claire posted 2 runs in 7th and 8th innings making the final score Huskies 2 Express 10.

Riley Gates got the start for the Huskies and earned the loss after tossing 3.1 innings allowing 6 runs, 5 earned, on 8 hits while walking 3 and striking out 3. David Kroger replaced Gates and tossed 3.2 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 1. Matt Hanson pitched the 8th inning for the Huskies and allowed 2 runs on 1 hit while walking 3 and striking out 1.

The Huskies are back in action Wednesday night in Eau Claire for the final game of the series verse the Express. They return home Thursday August 11th to battle the Rochester Honkers. First pitch from Wade Stadium is scheduled for 6:35.

On Thursday, August 11th the Huskies are hosting Wrestling at the Wade. Gates will open at 4:45 for people to come in and watch three pro wrestling matches as the Barking Spiders take on Pink Nation featuring Ryota Chikuzen, a pro wrestler from Japan who is flying in just for this match with his camera crew to film a documentary. Bell time for this event is 5:15 with the matches ending at 6. Those wearing wresting attire will receive advanced ticket prices verses game day ticket prices. Following the wresting match, the Huskies will take the field to battle the Rochester Honkers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 with special guest “Wild” Bill Irwin, a former AWA Superstar, throwing out the first pitch.
