Green Bay now heads back on the road to take on Wisconsin Rapids in two-game series

Fond du Lac, Wis.- The Green Bay Rockers fell on the road to the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 19-4 Friday night at Herr-Baker Field, splitting the two-game series with Fond du Lac following Thursday night’s win.

The Rockers now look to a two-game series with Wisconsin Rapids as they are now 14-13 in second half play on the season heading into that weekend series with the Rafters.

Fond du Lac struck first in the bottom of the first inning, scoring six runs that was capped off by a three-run home run which gave the Dock Spiders a 6-0 lead heading into the second.

The Dock Spiders increased the lead by one after two innings of play courtesy of an RBI single as Fond du Lac took a 7-0 lead going into the third inning at Herr-Baker Field.

Fond du Lac scored five more runs in the bottom of the third with a grand slam extending the Dock Spiders lead to 12-0 through three innings of play.

Ryan Culley pitched a scoreless fourth and fifth innings out of the bullpen for Green Bay to keep it a 12-0 ballgame heading into the sixth.

In his first outing since early June, Luke Hoskins pitched a scoreless sixth inning as the score remained 12-0 entering the seventh inning.

Fond du Lac scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh to extend their lead going into the eighth and then tacked on one more in the eighth inning to cap off their scoring for their night.

Green Bay scored their first run of the game in the top of the ninth on an RBI double by J.P Gauthier and then an RBI single by Matt Scannell made it a 19-2 game.

Despite two more runs coming across for Green Bay in the ninth inning to increase their run total to four, the Dock Spiders retired the last two batters of the game and won the series finale between the two teams.

The Rockers continue their three-game road trip as they take on the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in the first of back-to-back games on Saturday. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. from Witter Field.
