32 Growlers Home Runs Leads to 32 Trees Being Planted in Portage, MI Following May 2024 Tornado
32 trees were planted at Celery Flats along the Bicentennial Trail because of the 32 home runs our team hit this season.
Portage Parks staff members, Michigan DNR, Kalamazoo Nature Center Graphic Packaging and our team were there to help.
The May 2024 tornado devastated the city of Portage and destroyed thousands of trees with the Celery Flats/Portage Creek areas hit extremely hard.
Over 400 new trees will be planted in the next two years with the Leaf-A-Legacy reforestation project underway.
32 trees being donated is a fraction of the damage and we’re glad our home runs matter for something greater than just numbers on a scoreboard.
