The Kalamazoo Growlers are looking for qualified, customer service oriented, and outgoing individuals to join our gameday staff during the 2018 baseball season. Below is a list of concession positions along with a short description of the duties and responsibilities pertinent to each role.

Open group interviews will be held at Homer Stryker Field, 251 Mills St. Kalamazoo MI 49048 and signage will direct you where to go upon arrival. ​We will be holding group interviews on Sunday, April 15 and Saturday, April 21 from 11:00-2:00PM at the ballpark. We ask that you please fill out and turn in an application before arriving to open interviews. Applications can be picked up in our office or downloaded via PDF here. Your completed application will act as your RSVP. On your application, please indicate one of the two dates listed above in which you will be in attendance.

Concessions Overview – Concessions employees hold various roles throughout the ballpark in food and beverage areas. Employees must provide excellent customer service, display an understanding of food and beverage options within a designated area, and follow closely, the health and sanitation guidelines set forth by the Kalamazoo Growlers and the City of Kalamazoo.

The Growlers are currently accepting applications for the following concession positions for the 2018 season:

Waiter/Waitress – $5.00/hr + Tips – Waiters and Waitresses provide service to the Home Plate Club and Dugout Club guests, including but not limited to; preparing tables prior to gates opening, taking food orders, serving food and beverage to 5 to 6 tables of 4 guests. Maintaining area cleanliness, and providing a positive experience for all Home Plate Club and Dugout Club guests. Servers must have the ability to carry large trays of food and beverage from the grill area, up stairs to the Home Plate Club tables. Servers must be at least 18 years of age, and have an outgoing and energetic personality. 

Cashier – $9.25/hr – Cashiers are the face of the Growlers food and beverage experience. They are expected to greet and accommodate customers with a positive attitude and a smile.  Cashiers are responsible for managing cash and credit transactions at each of our concessions areas while processing accurate and timely concessions orders. Interested candidates should have a positive attitude, outgoing personality and work well in group settings. Previous cash handling experience is required. 

Grill Cook – $10.25/hr – Responsible for ensuring Growlers fans receive the freshest food possible in a timely manner.  Grill Cooks will follow specific food preparation and sanitation guidelines designed to create a consistently quality product. Interested candidates should have experience in a kitchen environment, and be able to work in a fast paced, hot environment.  

Food Runner/Wrapper/Fountain Soda $9.25/hr – Runners and wrappers serve as liaisons between the Grillers and Cashiers to fill the customer’s order. Their focus is on efficiently receiving the customer’s order from the cashier and working with the grillers to produce the products that they need to complete the order. Runners and Wrappers are accessible to customers and should be helpful and responsive to their wants, needs, and concerns. Fountain Soda pourers are responsible for making sure that there is always enough soda ready to go as soon as someone orders it. This is crucial to keeping concession stand lines at a minimum and is a perfect job for someone just starting out and has little to no experience! Lastly, Runners, Wrappers, and Fountain Soda pourers will have a role assisting the concessions managers and grillers to include washing dishes, post game concessions cleanup, and food wrapping. Interested candidates should have a positive attitude and work well in a fast paced group setting.

Draft Beer Attendant $9.25/hrThere are multiple locations throughout the ballpark where draft beer is served. To be eligible for this positon, pourers must be at least 18 years of age, have an outgoing personality, positive attitude, and always have a smile on their face. Previous experience with pouring beer is encouraged but not required.

Bartender $5.00/hr + Tips – Bartenders are responsible for serving multiple guests per night. They are expected to greet and accommodate customers with a positive attitude and a smile.  Bartenders are responsible for managing cash and credit transactions at our bar area while processing accurate and timely orders. Interested candidates must be 21 years of age or older and should have a positive attitude, outgoing personality and work well in group settings. Previous cash handling, and bartending experience is required. All applicants must have proof that they have been T.I.P.S. certified to serve alcohol in the State of Michigan.  

Stadium Vendors $5.00/hr + Tips – Stadium vendors are responsible for selling concessions items in the stands and must be 18+ years of age. Items sold vary from beer, water, and soda to hotdogs, peanuts, and candy. Vendors will be responsible for handling cash transactions and should be able to lift and walk around with 40lbs or more at any given time.  

Disclaimer For All Concessions PositionsThe Kalamazoo Growlers are an Equal Opportunity Employer and all applicants will receive equal consideration for employment. Most positons require standing for extended periods of time in a high paced and outdoor summer environment with little to no air conditioning. Applicants should be able to lift upwards of 30lbs by themselves, and be able to operate in a crowded, fast paced environment. Position training will be provided by the Kalamazoo Growlers.

Game Day Staff Overview:
These positions are our front line employees, and help to make the first impression for guests at the ballpark. All aspects of the game day experience are important, from the moment someone enters the stadium to when they leave the parking lot. All employees in these roles must provide excellent customer service, become knowledgeable about the ballpark layout and daily promotions, and interact with all guests and fellow employees in a positive manner.
Parking Attendant- $9.25/hr – Greeting guests in a friendly manner as they enter the ballpark, keeping the lines of cars moving, directing cars to park efficiently in rows, and helping with the exiting process at the end of the game. Position will be active and employee will be on their feet for long periods of time. Additional duties may include patrolling the parking lot on a utility cart to monitor for any safety concerns or helping with trash duties around the ballpark during slow periods.
Gate Attendants- $9.25/hr – Greeting guests in a friendly manner as they enter the ballpark, checking bags upon entry, monitoring for any prohibited items, taking tickets, passing out flyers and other promotional giveaway items, keeping entrance area tidy, and stamping guests for re-entry as needed.
Kids Zone Attendant- $9.25/hr – Employees in this area will be managing admittance and monitoring activities in our kids zone area. Employees working at the entrance will be responsible for making sure that all participants (parents of the children) sign a waiver, and issue wristbands for payment, so previous cash handling experience is recommended here. Additional Kids Zone employees will be stationed at each of the activities to monitor participants’ safety and issue any prize redemption tickets needed.
Party Zone Attendant- $9.25/hr –  Greeting guests in a friendly manner as they enter the Party Zone area, checking tickets, checking ID’s and issuing wristbands, keeping lines moving efficiently for check in, handing out promotional giveaway items, stamping guests for re-entry as needed, and keeping party zone area tidy throughout the game.
Ushers- $9.25/hr – Greeting guests in a friendly manner to help them in finding their seats, escorting guests to their seats, answering questions, and giving information about what’s included with their seats and any promotional information for the game. Duties will also include cleaning and wiping the tables in the section, and delivering and collecting guest surveys.
Bear Cave Attendant- $9.25/hr – Greeting guests in a friendly manner as they check in for the Bear Cave, setting up the check in table with wristbands and promotional items needed, reviewing the schedule ahead of time to determine group needs for the day, checking tickets, checking ID’s and issuing wristbands, stamping guests for re-entry as needed, and keeping Bear Cave are tidy throughout the game.
