Kalamazoo, MI. — The Kalamazoo Growlers (32-27, 16-11) were unable to get any offense going in a 6-0 defeat against the host Traverse City Pit Spitters (44-17, 21-4) at Pit Spitters Park Tuesday evening. The Growlers saw their three-game win streak come to an end.

Traverse City struck first in the third on a two-out RBI double by Michael Slaten to give the Pit Spitters an early 1-0 advantage. The Pit Spitters added another run in the fourth inning on a RBI single by Adam Proctor to make it 2-0.

In the fifth, Traverse City executed back-to-back sacrifice flies to stretch the lead to 4-0. The hosts then capped their offense in the sixth with a two-run triple courtesy of Andrew Morrow to extend the advantage to 6-0.

Pit Spitters starting pitcher Pat Hohlfeld earned the win, improving to 4-0. Growlers starter Christian Johnson (Gustavus Adolphus College) took the loss, falling to 0-1. 

The Kalamazoo Growlers return to action tomorrow evening at Pit Spitters Park to conclude the two-game series. First pitch is slated for a 7:05 p.m. start.
