KALAMAZOO, MI – After 36 games filled with fun, drama and riveting action. The first half of the 2022 Northwoods League Season has come to a close. 


The Growlers first two weeks of the season began with a ups and plenty of downs, KZoo started the campaign 0-3 before a blowout win against BC and back-to-back electrifying walk-offs leveled the record at 3-3. A five game losing skid found the Growlers at the bottom of the division but if there is on thing that this 2022 Growlers team has showed, it is that they have no problem playing from behind.

The Growlers also lead the season series against Battle Creek 6-2 and are a win away from retaining the I-94 Cup for another season!

Kalamazoo rattled off win streaks of seven and five games in lengths at separate points in the first half in the season to propel them to the first half title.

The Growlers ended the first half leading the league in the following team statistics runs,hits, RBI, walks, HBP, Sac Bunts and On Base percentage. 10 players on the growlers active roster currently have a .300+ batting average highlighted by Griff O’Ferrall’s .372 average. Even with the Growlers leading the league is such a wide variety of offensive statistics, they sit in the bottom five places in the league in home runs.

Growlers Manger Cody Piechocki after 8 years as Growlers skipper has brought home the first division championship to KZoo and now looks to pick up his 200th win as manager in the second half of the season.

The Growlers will have a home playoff contest the 14-16 of August depending on playoff seeding.
