Fon Du Lac WI– The Growlers use a strong start from Blake Therrian to propel them to a 7-4 victory. Here’s how it went down.

The Dock Spiders struck first in their half of the first.  With runners on the corners and one out Andrew Bullock (Western Carolina) grounds out to first base to plate  AJ Lewis ( Missouri) from third, 1-0 Dock Spiders.

Fast forward to the top of the fourth and Michael Diffley (San Diego State) drills a 2 out RBI double to score Drew Huff (MTSU) from first, 1-1. In the bottom of the 4th Fon Du Lac regained the lead on a solo shot to right field by their center fielder Joe Breaux (McClennan CC), 2-1 Dock Spiders.  However the Growlers would answer in the top of the fifth. Jeff Riedel (Ball State) led off the inning with a sharp single up the middle. Riedel took second on a wild pitch from Fon Du Lac starter Ryan Connelly (Iowa Western CC), and then advanced to third sliding underneath the tag on a fielder's choice from Connor Hollis (Houston). With Riedel at third and Hollis at first Jason Sullivan (Central Michigan) skipped an RBI single over the head of Bullock the Dock Spiders first baseman to tie the game at 2-2.

Sullivan would then steal second putting runners at second and third with still no one out for Growler first baseman Charlie Carpenter (USC Upstate). Carpenter would give the Growlers a 3-2 lead on a RBI double over the head of Breaux in center field. Kalamazoo would add one more in the inning to make it 4-2 Growlers.

Fast forward to the top of the 8th and the Growlers are clinging to a 4-3 lead after the Dock Spiders struck for one in the seventh. Jeff Riedel steps to the plate with the bases loaded, and one out and he rips a shot that hops over the glove of Fon Du Lac secondbasemen KV Edwards (Missouri) that plates Kaleb Murphy (USC)  from second and Drew Huff from third. The two run error gave the Growlers a 6-3 lead. Connor Hollis would add a sac fly to give the Growlers a 7-3 lead.

Kalamazoo would eventually win by the score of 7-4 as Blake Therrian (1-1) picks up his first W of the season. Therrian went 7 innings only giving up three runs on five hits. Ryan Connolly (2-1) suffered his first lose. The Growlers are back at home tomorrow for a quick home stand vs the south division leader, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. Game one is scheduled to start at 3:05 ET.
