Kalamazoo, MI – In a total flip from Tuesday night, the Growlers struggled to find any answers on offense, falling in game one to Traverse City 7-1.
Kalamazoo left nine stranded and struck out a season-worst 14 times on Wednesday night, dropping back down to .500 on the season. K-Zoo has now left on nine or more in 15 of 22 games this season.
Jayden Dentler for the Pit Spitters had his best outing of the season, going six innings, giving up just four hits, and one earned run while striking out 10. The double-digit strikeouts for Dentler past the seven he had in the 16 innings prior.
Parker Brosius had himself a day at the plate, going 3-4 with three singles and two runs. His .413 has become a Northwoods League best. Cole Prout backed that up with two RBI doubles as the Pit Spitters scored in every inning from the second to the sixth.
The Pit Spitters and Growlers match up for a doubleheader tomorrow with game one starting at 12:05 p.m. ET.
