Kalamazoo, MI The Kalamazoo Growlers currently sit in first place in the Great Lakes East Division with just eight games remaining in the first half of the 2022 season. If the Growlers finish in first place at the conclusion of those eight games, they will clinch a playoff berth for this August. The Growlers currently control their own destiny. They hold a 2 game lead over both Kenosha and their rival Battle Creek.

How playoff spots are earned in the Northwoods League. The NWL takes the top finishers from each half of the season and awards them playoff berths. The first half of the season concludes on Monday, July 4th meaning whichever team sits in first place after the 4th already clinches a playoff berth this August.

The Growlers begin a four game road trip Monday, June 27th with a two game series in Kokomo followed by a two game series in Fond du Lac. The Growlers will close out the first half of the season with home games July 1st through the 4th. Kalamazoo will play second place Kenosha on Friday and Saturday night. It’s sure to be an epic clash on the diamond for that first place divisional crown and a coveted playoff spot.

There will surely be fireworks on the diamond during the game but after as well. Fireworks shows are planned for both Friday night and Independence Day itself, Monday the 4th. It is sure to be an exhilarating holiday weekend as the Growlers look to secure their playoff spot.
