Opening Weekend Graphics!Kalamazoo, Mich – Kalamazoo Growlers Baseball Opening Weekend will be host to a ton of fun-filled promotions and events to kick off their inaugural season on Friday, May 30 at Homer Stryker Field.

Friday night (May 30) at 7 p.m. the Growlers will kick off their season against cross-town rivals, the Battle Creek Bombers. The night will start with a National Anthem performance by American Idol Contestant Shubha Vedula. The Growlers along with Walmart and Sam’s Club will be giving away a flat screen television to one lucky fan. A special appearance will be made by former Detroit Tiger World Champion Denny McClain during the game. The Growlers will be giving away magnet schedules to the first 2000 fans in attendance. After the game, the night will conclude with the first of the Growlers Friday night fireworks shows. Also, during Friday and Saturday’s games a special appearance will be made by our fun inflatable friends the Inflatamaniacs.

Super Saturday (May 31) sponsored by Consumers Credit Union and The Radisson Hotel, will feature an Andy Dirks Mini-Bobblehead giveaway to the first 500 fans that enter the park.  Saturday’s game against the Wisconson-Rapids Rafters will also be host to Girl Scout Night, one of the many in-season events the Growlers will be featuring. Finally, magnet schedules will be given to every fan who attends.

Family Fun Day (June 1) will be in conjunction with Sunday’s series finale against the Rafters. Super Hero/Villian night sponsored by Pure Green Lawn will allow kids 12 and under, who attend the game in a costume to receive a complimentary ticket. A Drawstring Backpack giveaway will be presented by Crown Trophy to the first 500 fans that enter the stadium.

The first home game of the year is on Friday, May 30 at Homer Stryker Field, when the Bombers come to Kalamazoo in the first of a five game home stand.

The Kalamazoo Growlers are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League.
