Growlers Reading Program

What is the Growlers Reading Program?

The Kalamazoo Growlers Reading Program aims to promote reading and to reward students for excelling at doing such.

We center this around National Reading Month (March) but can be completed on any timeline before the end of the calendar school year.

Need to Knows

HOW DOES THE READING PROGRAM WORK?

The Kalamazoo Growlers Reading Program is super flexible and designed to give the power to each individual teacher/parent so they can adjust reading goals based on their own classroom/kid’s reading level.

Teachers/parents can also dictate the duration of the program. In the past, teacher/parent’s timelines for the program could range anywhere from a week-long to the whole month of March.

The program is based on the concept of a baseball diamond where there are (4) reading goals. Each goal would be additional reading than the past goal (i.e. 1st goal = 15 pages, 2nd goal = 30 pages, etc).

Each goal that the student hits, they receive a prize!

If a student hits a home run, they receive an out-of-the-park experience.

The student will receive a folder with a scannable QR code to redeem 1 free ticket to a Growlers game this summer.

WHAT PRIZES DO THE STUDENTS WIN?

Each parent or teacher sets 4 custom goals for their students.

For each goal students reach, they get a prize from the Growlers and a prize from one of our sponsors.

Goals get more challenging as the student progresses.

Students who reach goal 4 earn a FREE Growlers ticket redeemable for the Kalamazoo Growlers Reading Day Game.

  • Goal 1 / Single: A Kalamazoo Growlers folder + a Hungry Howies 1 Topping Jr. Pizza
  • Goal 2 / Double: A Kalamazoo Growlers bookmark + a gift TBA
  • Goal 3 / Triple: Free Kalsee Kub Zone Entrance Wristband and one (1) Like It Size Create – Your – Own Ice Cream from Cold Stone Creamery.
  • Goal 4 / Homerun: Two (2) FREE ticket redeemable for the Kalamazoo Growlers Reading Day Game at the Ballpark.

WHAT DO TEACHERS & PARENTS HAVE TO DO?

It is free for parents and students to participate and we will provide all the necessary materials, including the prizes, and posters.

All parents or teachers have to do is create and track their students’ goals, we take care of the rest!
