FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kalamazoo, Mich. – The Kalamazoo Growlers have announced the signings of infielders Brodey Acres, Savi Delgado and Reagan Paulina.

Savi Delgado returns for his second summer in Kalamazoo. The junior shortstop from Barry University (DII) appeared in 16 games for the Growlers in 2023 and showed off a flashy young glove and a legit arm.

“I’m super stoked to return to the zoo and play for (coach) Piechocki for another summer,” Delgado said. “The stadium environment, the level of competition and most importantly the fans is what I truly look forward to.

In his sophomore season with Barry, Delgado started in 42 of his 44 games at short, batting .273 with six homers, 18 extra-base hits and 32 RBI. This spring, Delgado has driven in 16 in just 15 games as the Buccaneers head into their weekend series.

“Last year was nothing short of a great experience and I can’t wait to run it back with the guys who are returning and those who will be new. I’m all in to be a part of something great.”

Brodey Acres, a sophomore at Walsh University (DII), comes to Kalamazoo from Sylvania, Ohio. The first-team All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference selection in 2023 slashed .330/.404/.425 with a team second-best 39 RBI.
Across 17 games in his sophomore campaign, Acres is hitting .270 while having driven in 15 RBI. The 5-foot-10 inch, 170-pound middle infielder is coming off of the best week of the year. In his last six games, Acres is 11-25 with 10 RBI and four extra-base hits including the first grand slam of his career. For his efforts, Acres was named the G-MAC Athlete of the Week.

I am stoked to be in the Northwoods League especially for the Growlers,” Acres said. “I’ve heard nothing but good things from past players, and am just hoping to do my part for as long as I can.”

Reagan Paulina comes to Kalamazoo out of Wayne State (DII – MI). The redshirt junior from Highland, Michigan began his career at Oakland University in Rochester. In 2023 with the Golden Grizzlies, Paulina played in 45 games, starting 19 and hitting .243. Across a pair of seasons of summer collegiate baseball in the Texas and Cal Ripken leagues, Paulina combined to slash .259/.380/.381 with 13 extra-base hits and 20 RBI in 43 games.

The #GrowlersPipeline continues to grow stronger across the country. The 2024 Northwoods League season is right around the corner.
