While the Growlers 2014 inaugural season may have ended, baseball is still very much alive at the ballpark. Homer Stryker Field is set to play host to Marvin Okun Agency’s Baseball Camp this Saturday, August 23. The camp will run from 9am to 5pm and is designed for local high school ballplayers to enhance their fundamentals including hitting, pitching and fielding.

In attendance will be Growlers inaugural season head coach Joe Carbone. Carbone is widely known for the coaching job he did at Ohio University. He concluded his 24-year career there in the spring of 2012, finishing as Ohio’s all-time winningest coach with a total of 689 wins. This also lands Carbone second all-time in MAC history. He was named MAC Coach of the Year twice and over the course of his coaching career, 43 players have signed professional baseball contracts.

Also set to attend are coaches from around the area, including Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Western Michigan University coaches.

The camp will feature 21 local players from Parchment, Delton and Gull Lake High Schools. The entire camp will be recorded with each individual camper receiving their own highlight reel, where they can critique their swing and motion.

The Growlers are excited to be teaming up with Marvin Okun Agency and cannot wait to bring this opportunity to local ballplayers. While registration has closed for the camp, the Growlers will continue to look for even more ways to bring baseball back to the community.
