The Kalamazoo Growlers, the West Michigan Cancer Center & Institute for Blood Disorders and PRAB/Hapman are excited to announce ‘Strike Out Cancer Night’ at Homer Stryker Field on Saturday, July 13th at 7:05pm.

The night will celebrate cancer survivors and will raise money for the West Michigan Cancer Center.

The Growlers players will be wearing the #SurvivorSelfie jersey, a jersey adorned with the faces of cancer survivors. The jerseys will be auctioned off at the end of the night, with all proceeds going to the West Michigan Cancer Center.

The team will host patients and staff from WMCC during the night. “We at WMCC are incredibly excited to be a part of Strike Out Cancer Night and are thrilled for our patients and their families to be able to come out and enjoy a fun night of baseball, ”said Interim Executive Director, Bridget VandenBussche.

PRAB/Hapman will also team up with the Growlers and WMCC. Ned Thompson, President of PRAB, Inc said, “The employees of PRAB & Hapman are proud to help celebrate those who have stood up and faced down cancer, to give our appreciation and support to the people and organizations that continue the march toward a cure.”

Survivors can submit their selfies on the Kalamazoo Growlers Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages.  Submissions just need to include the #SurvivorSelfie and tag the Growlers and West Michigan Cancer Center in the post.

Growlers Managing Member, Brian Colopy stated, “Everyone knows someone who has battled cancer and we feel like their courage needs to be celebrated. The #SurvivorSelfie Jersey will highlight these individuals as well as remind us that there is no one face of cancer and that it does not discriminate.”

Fans can add their selfie to the jersey by uploading their picture to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and tagging it with #SurvivorSelfie. Fans can also upload their picture directly to the Kalamazoo Growlers website by clicking here.
