It's 2016 and we are back.
After a year hiatus, the old crew has hopped on board and will be helping direct the Island Festival this year. In it's 21st year the Island Festival has brought hundreds of thousands of people through Kalamazoo in celebration of Island Culture. As World Beat and Reggae Night at Club Soda in the 1980's became the clubs most popular night it became clear that this celebration deserved more than one night. In 1996, Paul Toth and Wayne Deering joined forces to produce the first ever Island Festival. Since then the Island Festival has grown in size and scale into a three day festival attracting international acts, craft and food vendors from across the country and over 20,000 reggae fans each year.
Now, more than ever, it is important that we keep celebrations of each others cultures alive and well. The Island Festival gives people from all over the world an opportunity to come together to share food, drinks, music and good vibes. There are a lot of hateful things in our world but the Island Festival is a weekend where we can think Peace, Love and No Worries. We invite you to join us June 16th, 17th and 18th to get a Taste of the Caribbean.
