KALAMAZOO, MI – The Growlers picked up a win tonight with a 7 – 3 victory over the Rockford Rivets.

Connor Adams started on the mound, going an impressive 6.2 innings only allowing two runs on four hits. The Growlers offense did their job behind Adams posting a four-run first inning to get things started.

Jordan Bowersox from Penn State started with a lead-off walk followed by a Sam Hall hit by pitch to put the first two batters on base. Sam Crail reached base on an error by the Rivets’ shortstop to load the bases with no outs. Jonathan Foster then stepped up and ripped a double off the left-center fence to score both Bowersox and Hall and give the Growlers the early lead. Zach Daniels also was hit by a pitch to load the bases yet again with no outs in the bottom of the first inning. Baron Radcliff picked up an RBI scoring Crail easily from third. Jared Miller also picked up an RBI to make the score 4 – 0.

The Rivets couldn’t pick up any runs in their half of the second inning, but the Growlers picked up two more off of a Sam Crail double, scoring Sam Faith and Sam Weatherly. The Rivets only plated three runs between the seventh and eighth inning to make the score 6 – 3.

Zach Daniels picked up an RBI in the bottom of the eighth scoring on a fielder’s choice scoring Sam Crail. The score would remain 7 – 3 for the remainder of the game.

The Growlers and Rivets will be back at Homer Stryker Field again tomorrow night for Red, White, & Boom Night presented by Steensma Lawn and Power Equipment.
