Three More Players Joining Kalamazoo Growlers
KALAMAZOO, MI – The Kalamazoo Growlers announced today the signing of Clay Dungan, CJ Huntley, and Walter Talcott. Dungan and Huntley hail from Indiana State and Talcott joins from Earlham College. This recruiting update is presented by OnStaff Group.
INF – Clay Dungan, 6’0” (L/R) Sophomore, Indiana State
Prior to coming to Indiana State Clay Dungan posted a standout athletic career at Yorktown High School. As a Tiger he was a four-year letter winner. Dungan received All-Star honors during his senior year at Yorktown and played in the North-South All-Star series where he was named Most Valuable Player for the 2015 campaign. He went on to earn the Most Valuable Player honors that same season and was a one-time MaxPreps Player of the Week during his senior year. Dungan batted .488, with 38 RBIs, 9 doubles, 5 triples, and 2 home runs as a senior.
In 2016 the outstanding infielder appeared in 45 games at Indiana State. During his freshman campaign with the Sycamores Dungan finished with a .271 batting average, 26 RBIs, a .349 on-base percentage, and a .403 slugging percentage. He went on to record 39 base hits with 8 doubles, 4 triples and 1 home run.
Clay is the son of Tony and Carolyn Dungan.
OF – CJ Huntley, 6’3” (R/R) Sophomore, Indiana State
A Kalamazoo native, CJ Huntley comes off a six-game freshman campaign for the Sycamores. Prior to coming to Indiana State Huntley was a stand-out prep at Mattawan High School where he was a two-sport athlete in both baseball and football. He was a four-year letter winner in baseball and a two-year letter winner in football.
During his first season at the collegiate level Huntley had eight at-bats, all in pinch-hit roles. He finished the season with a .125 batting average.
CJ is the son of Chad and Angela Huntley.
RHP – Walter Talcott, 5’10” (R/R) Sophomore, Earlham College
As a freshman Walter Talcott was named Mideast Region Rookie of the Year as well as earning a spot on the All-Mideast Region Second Team. The Lafayette, Indiana, native earned HCAC Freshman of the Year honors after leading the conference in wins (10), ERA (1.91), complete games (5), and strikeouts (87). Talcott went on to break Earlham’s single season record for wins, strikeouts, and innings pitched (89.1).
Walter is a Neuroscience Pre-Medicine major.
