Kalamazoo, Mich. – The two new players for the Kalamazoo Growlers enter the Northwoods League from the University of Tennessee. The signing of freshmen Zach Daniels and Sam Springer is presented by the OnStaff Group.
OF – Zach Daniels | 6’1” | R/R | Freshman | Stockbridge, GA
Zach Daniels is a graduate of Eagles Landing Christian Adademy. He was ranked as the No. 9 OF and 21st overall player in the state of Georgia by Perfect Game and earned Underclass High Honorable Mention (2015) and Underclass 2nd Team (2016) recognition. In 2017 he was named a Rawlings-Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American.
A right-handed hitter, Daniels produces a short powerful swing and generates outstanding raw bat speed. He moves easily to and through the ball in the outfield, fields the ball out front, and makes accurate throws with some carry. Daniels ranked 14th in the 2016 National Showcase with a 60 time of 6.45.
LHP – Sam Springer | 6’0” | R/L | Freshman | Knoxville, TN
Sam Spring is a graduate of West High School. He was a four-year letter winner in baseball and earned All-District honors in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Perfect Game rated him the 8th-best LHP in the state of Tennessee and the 61st best overall player in the state. Springer ended his final high school season with a 1.48 ERA in 47.1 innings pitched and had 60 strikeouts.
The Growlers look forward to seeing these two develop in their first year at Tennessee and are excited to bring their talent to Homer Stryker Field this summer.
