Monday night at Franklin Rogers Park, 1,226 fans in attendance saw a MoonDogs victory. However, they had to wait awhile in a game that saw 9 different pitchers, 18 walks, 18 total runs and took a shade under 3 ½ hours to play, in the ‘Dogs 13-5 win over North Division leading, Duluth Huskies.

The MoonDogs got the bats going early, posting 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Duluth came right back in the top of the second, scoring 2 runs of their own, then scoring another 2 runs in the top of the fourth, to take a brief 4-3 lead.

After the Huskies held the 4-3 lead, it was all MoonDogs the rest of the game, posting four runs in the fourth, two runs in the fifth and four runs in the seventh. Duluth managed one run in the top of the seventh to finish their scoring.

Jose Shaw (1-3) picked up his first victory of the season for the MoonDogs pitching 3.0 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, walking 1 and striking out 3.

Duluth’s pitching staff had a rough outing all night, as Brent Hale (3-1) ended up taking his first loss of the season.

Ryan Chiarelli wore out the bases and the Huskies staff reaching all 6 times he stepped to the plate. On the night, Chiarelli finished 2-2 with 1 double, 4 walks, 3 runs scored and 1 RBI. Aaron Grant helped out as well, going 2-5 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI.
