(8/13/06) The Mankato MoonDogs’ season finale against the Eau Claire Express was rained out on Sunday.

Heavy rains fell on Carson Park in Eau Claire about one hour before gametime, leading to unplayable field conditions. After a delay of approximately one hour, the game was cancelled, thus bringing an end to the 2006 season.

The MoonDogs finished the season with a 32-35 overall record, but a 20-13 mark in the second half, good for second place in the North Division. Thunder Bay’s 21-13 record won the first half division title, but the Duluth Huskies stormed to a 10-0 start in the second half, and the MoonDogs were ultimately unable to keep up with their frantic pace.

The MoonDogs set attendance marks in 2006, as a record 35,805 fans passed through the gates of Franklin Rogers Park. The average attendance of 1,085 was also a new record, surpassing the previous record set of 1,035 set in 2005.

The MoonDogs wish to thank the fans for all their support throughout the 2006 season. With the Northwoods League All-Star Game coming to Mankato in 2007, there is sure to be even more excitement in store for next summer, when we hope to see you at "The Frank!"
