(Mankato, MN) Once again the MoonDog bullpen struggled to close the door in the latter stages of the game as Erik Hamren (UC-Irvine) walked in a run and balked in a run in the top of the eleventh inning allowing the Waterloo Bucks to defeat the Mankato MoonDogs 3-1. Hamren allowed a single, and walked three batters in the eleventh to acquire his first loss of the season.

The MoonDog bats struggled to produce runs for the second consecutive night, only generating five hits and a single run. Kyle Knudson (Minnesota) went 2-for-4 on the evening and Bobby Munoz (St. Leo’s), Mike Lobacz (Elon), and Cory Harrilchak all collected a single, but the Mankato squad could not bunch any of these hits together.

The MoonDogs fall to 14-5 on the season, but stay two and a half games above second place Rochester. Waterloo improves to 6-11 having won their last three games. The MoonDogs will host Brainerd tomorrow evening three days after completing a two-game sweep at Brainerd. The first pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 7:05 pm.
