Duluth, Minn. – Ryan Demmin struck out 14 batters in eight innings of brilliant work for the MoonDogs. Unfortunately the Dogs could not push across that big hit, as they fell 2-1 in 10 innings to Duluth Wednesday at Wade Stadium.

Demmin (UW-Oshkosh) set a MoonDog (14-16, 37-26) season and individual career high for strikeouts in a game in his last start before the playoffs. However Duluth (10-20, 23-40) starter Sean Yost (Nebraska) was also up to the task holding the MoonDogs to just one run while striking out seven in eight innings.

Duluth posted the winning run in the 10th on a walk-off single by Todd Baumgartner (Arkansas St.). With runners on second and third, Baumgartner laced a single up the middle, scoring Pete Cappetta (Illinois) for the winning run.

The MoonDogs left 10 men on base, and scored their only run in the top of the first when Danny Miller (Minnesota State) scored on a wild pitch after tripling.

Ryan Durant (Iowa) continued his hot hitting for Mankato, as he went 3-5 in his new found lead-off spot. Miller also added two hits for the Dogs.

Baumgartner had an excellent night, recording a 4-5 evening to complement his game-winner in the 10th. Five other Huskies recorded a hit apiece.

John Brebbia (Elon) suffered the loss, going 1.2 innings to fall to 2-5. Brodie Brumley (Harding) earned his second win (2-4) by pitching the 10th.

The Dogs and Huskies will wrap up their series Thursday with a 7:05 tilt.
