La Crosse, Wis. – Evan Kohli plated three RBI for the MoonDogs as they earned a 6-2 victory in what turned out to be a tune-up for the playoffs for both teams Monday evening at Copeland Park.

The MoonDogs (39-29, 16-19) never trailed in the game as they jumped out to a 2-1 lead after two and a 4-1 cushion after four.

Kohli (Illinois State) led the MoonDogs with a 2-4, three RBI performance that included what turned out to be the game-winning two-run double in the fourth. Ryan Durant (Iowa) and Nick Judkins (Iowa Central) set up Kohli’s big hit with two-out singles to precede the big double.

Brett Fratzke (Minnesota State) picked up the win in his first and only outing for the MoonDogs, allowing just one run on one hit while striking out six. Fratzke dodged some tough jams, however, as he walked seven batters. Jason Hooper (UW-Whitewater) was not so lucky, as he suffered the loss for the Loggers (41-27, 20-14), hurling four innings and allowing four runs on five hits and five walks.

Both teams had their opportunities to plate several more runs, as they combined for 20 walks and 26 men left on base.

The MoonDogs pulled away late in the game with single runs in the eighth and ninth. Kohli plated Durant with an RBI single in the eighth and Taylor Black (Kentucky) scored Xorge Carillo (Arizona State) with a double in the ninth to account for the sixth MoonDog run.

The Loggers scored their two runs via a Blair Moore (San Diego State) sac fly in the second and a Justin Preckajlo (North Florida) RBI single in the seventh.

Judkins also went 2-4 with a run and two walks for the Dogs, while Carillo and Durant both added two hits.

The MoonDogs will open the North Division Playoffs tomorrow at Rochester, while the Loggers will host Eau Claire. Both games will start at 7:05 p.m.

Spots on the MoonDog fan bus to Rochester are still available for $20. The bus is scheduled to leave at 5:15 p.m. from the Franklin Rogers parking lot.
