Mankato, Minn. – The Mankato MoonDogs (7-12, 22-31) lost to the Rochester Honkers (9-9, 28-22) Friday at Mayo Field 7 to 5.

The MoonDogs took the lead early and scored two runs in the first inning on a Mike More (Lindenwood) single. The Honkers were able to take the lead in the sixth inning by scoring three runs on two hits but left the bases loaded. They scored two more in the sseventh to put the game away.

Pitcher Josh Moody (Arizona State) took the loss as he went five and two third innings, allowed five runs, only one earned, on two hits. Rochester’s David Hurlbut (Cal State Fulerton) got the win. He went six innings allowed four runs, only one earned, on six MoonDog hits.

Moore had a good night at the plate. He went three for three with two runs scored and a run batted in. Second baseman Sam Lind (Vanderbilt) went two for three with a run scored and a run batted in.

The MoonDogs remain home tomorrow to facec the Thunder Bay Border Cats at 6:05 p.m. at Franklin Rogers Park. It will be MoonDogs’ Baseball Card Night and the first 500 kids recieve a pack of MoonDogs trading cards.
