Mankato, Minn. – The Mankato MoonDogs are off to a great start in this young season, going 10-4. Unfortunately three of those four losses have come to the Duluth Huskies. The MoonDogs dropped another game to the Huskies, 8-1, Thursday night at Franklin Rogers Park.

The Huskies put three runs on the scoreboard in the top of the second inning and never looked back. Duluth pitcher, Joey Novak (Harvard) threw a fantastic game for the Huskies. Novak pitched seven innings, gave up one run on four hits and struck out six MoonDogs. At one point in the game, Novak retired 14 consecutive MoonDogs batters between the first inning and sixth inning. MoonDog Chris Ross (Montevallo) broke Novak’s streak in the sixth with a single.

MoonDog Shaun Cooper (Utah) had two of the MoonDogs’ four hits on the night. Cooper went 2-for-3 with a single and put the MoonDogs on the scoreboard with a solo home run that soared over the left field fence in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The MoonDogs will face Duluth again tomorrow night, Friday June 17th at Franklin Rodgers Park in Mankato. Friday there is a Piggy Bank giveaway presented by Nicollet County and Blue Earth County Pork Producers, the MN Pork Producers Association and Minnesota 93. Also, all adults age 18 and older will have a chance to win a flat screen TV courtesy of Protein Sources.
