Duluth, Mn- The Mankato MoonDogs found themselves in a dog fight Sunday night against the Duluth Huskies, winning 1-0 at Wade Stadium.

Starting pitcher Tyler Niederklein (Nebraska) took a perfect game into the bottom of the fifth inning, but gave up a lead-off double to Huskies catcher, Chris Manship (Kansas). Niederklein would work his way out of the jam, striking out the final batter of the inning, leaving Manship on base. Niederklein had arguably his best outing of the summer, going 7 and 1/3 strong innings on the mound, allowing no runs on four hits, while striking out six.
Josh Dahl (Central Arizona) came into the game in the bottom of the eighth inning with one out and a runner on base. Dahl gave up a base hit, putting runners on first and third, but managed to work out of his own jam. The MoonDogs relief pitcher caught KC Clabough (Florida Tech) trying to steal second, throwing the pick off attempt to first baseman Zak Wasserman (Louisville) who applied the tag at first, then alertly threw to catcher Whitt Dorsey (S. Alabama) who tagged Sean Moore (DMACC) out at home, ending the inning.

The MoonDogs lone run came in the top of the fifth inning after Dorsey was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring Joe Loftus (Vanderbilt) from third. Loftus led the MoonDogs offense, going 1-for-2 with a run scored, but left the game in the sixth inning after being hit in the head by a pitch. Loftus is day to day.

The MoonDogs continue their nine game, eight day road trip Monday night in Brainerd. Jordan Remer (San Francisco) gets the start for Mankato. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm at Wade stadium.
