MANKATO, Minn.–The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, is pleased to announce a 6-2 victory over the Thunder Bay Border Cats Wednesday at Franklin Rodgers Park.
Trailing by one with Border Cats starting pitcher, Blake Fonfara (Lipscomb, Tenn.), working on a no hitter, the MoonDogs saw the ball game turn around in a wild fourth inning. The Rosemont native would allow three runs in the inning, plunking three batters while walking three more to give the MoonDogs a 3-1 lead.
The MoonDogs tacked on two more runs in the fifth and a final run in the eighth to secure their 6-2 victory over the Border Cats.
Starter, Ty Taylor (Oklahoma) went 5 2/3 innings allowing two runs on seven hits in his second start of the season. The crafty left-hander earned his second victory of the season, while walking two Border Cats Batters and striking out four in his 2012 home debut.
Third baseman, Blair Moore (Cal Baptist) had another solid night for the MoonDogs, going 3-4 at the plate with a double (3) and two runs scored. Moore has now hit safely in seven of the first eight games this season, while bumping his batting average up to .421 overall.
With the win tonight, the MoonDogs are now 6-2 and just one game behind the first place Waterloo Bucks.
