MANKATO, Minn.–The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, is proud to announce a donation nearing $2,000 to Duluth and the American Red Cross Flood Relief Fund. In Thursdays game against the Duluth Huskies at Franklin Rogers Park $3 of every ticket sold was donated to the effort.

Along with the ticket sales donation, the MoonDogs received donations from an in game fundraiser, a number of local businesses, and a contribution from our concession staff, who gave all of their game tips towards the cause.

"We wanted to do our small part.” Said MoonDogs General Manager Kyle Mrozek. "I’m blown away by the generosity of our fans and business partners that helped us get to the number we’re at.”

The MoonDogs were in the middle of the Duluth Huskies series at the Frank when the tragic Duluth flooding news broke out. Immediately the MoonDog Organization and fans wanted to do what they could to help the Duluth community.

"We wanted to help out a fellow Northwoods League member in the community,” Mrozek said. "We want to give credit to our fans for calling in and making us believe the idea would be successful.”

The MoonDogs Organization would like to give a special thanks to all of the fans and businesses for their support and contributions. The proceeds raised for the relief effort by the MoonDogs community will be collected by the Red Cross and used to help with the Duluth community and the flood aid.

The American Red Cross is still accepting donations. They can be contacted at redcrossmn.org or by calling 800-733-2767 for any contributions towards the Duluth flood relief.
