ALEXANDRIA, MINN.- A day after putting up 18 runs on 20 hits in Rochester, The Mankato MoonDogs wrapped up their three-game road trip on Wednesday night with a 3-1 win over the Alexandria Blue Anchors at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.

The MoonDogs trailed 1-0 early, but got the offense rolling in the top of the fifth inning with an Alex Polston (Seminole State) RBI double down the left field line, scoring Woody Woodward (UC Santa Barbra) from second.  One batter later, Hibraim Cordova (U of the Cumberlands) put the ‘Dogs in front for good with an RBI double, scoring Polston from third.  Mankato got an insurance run in the top of the eighth inning with Josh Fuentes (Saddleback) driving in Tim Arakawa (Oklahoma State) from second.

Kahana Neal (U of the Cumberlands) improved to 3-0 on the season, allowing just one unearned run on three hits over five innings.  Jesse Harbin (Arkansas-Little Rock) was lights out in relief for Mankato, retiring nine of the eleven Alexandria batters he faced.  In three innings, Harbin gave up just one hit while walking one, striking out two.  Jess Amedee (UT-Arlington) wrapped up the night with a 1-2-3, ninth inning.  The MoonDogs closer picked up his eighth save of the summer while striking out two.

The MoonDogs will go for the series sweep, and a season high four gaming winning streak when they return to Franklin Rogers Park Thursday night.   Acclaimed entertainment group The ZOOperstars are set to perform, presented by KEYC.
