Mankato, MN – In a game that featured seven combined errors the Mankato MoonDogs (14-12) were able to hold off the Rochester Honkers (14-11) as the MoonDogs win by a score of 7-5 Sunday night in front of a crowd of 1,205 at Franklin Rogers Park in Mankato, Minnesota.

The MoonDogs were able to capitalize on four innings that featured Honkers errors in route to the victory. With the win, the MoonDogs move 14-12 and have won nine of their last twelve games.

Offensively leading the way for the MoonDogs was Brinn Bell. Bell went 2-for-4 with three RBI’s, coming off a two out three run homerun in the bottom of the first inning.

Jack Flansburg also added two hits as he went 2-for-5 on the night.

Picking up the win would be Chris Butcher (2-0) and taking the loss would be Tyler Feyereisen (1-1). Samuel Myers (2-1) would pick up the save, his second of the year.

MoonDogs and Honkers will head west for game two of the home and home series at Mayo Field tomorrow, Monday at 7:05pm. The MoonDogs will return to The Frank Tuesday and Wednesday with both games starting at 7:05pm, gates open at 6:05pm, to battle the Thunder Bay Border Cats. On Tuesday, the first 500 fans will receive a MoonDogs hat courtesy of Community Bank and Minnesota 93, and on Wednesday it’s Christmas in June.
