MANKATO, MN—After dropping both games of a double-header in Willmar yesterday, the MoonDogs travelled back to Franklin Rogers Park on Tuesday hoping to bounce back against the Stingers.

It was the final matchup of the season between these divisional opponents with the season record between the teams sitting at 5-2 in favor of Willmar, coming into the day.

The ‘Dogs jumped on the Stingers right away, putting up four runs before even recording an out, thanks to a Marcus Pingleton grand slam.

That lead only grew as the game went on, with the MoonDogs putting up five runs in the 5th inning and another three in the 7th, giving them a 12-3 lead after seven innings.

The Stingers wouldn’t let the season series between these team end without keeping it interesting, however, as they were able to bring seven runners in to score in the 8th to make it a 12-10 game.

Cooper Powell came in relief for starter Robby Evans, and was able to get the MoonDogs out of a bases loaded jam in the 5th inning and in the 6th made a nice play at the plate to save another run from scoring on a wild pitch.

Brian Gadsby entered in the 9th and was able to close it out for the MoonDogs, giving them the victory.

The MoonDogs have the day off tomorrow and will be back at Franklin Rogers Park Monday to take on the Duluth Huskies. Tickets are still available and can be purchased either at the gate, in the office at 1221 Caledonia St. or online at www.mankatomoondogs.com
